I've been a little back and forth on Wes Anderson over the years, but there's no denying that his most recent outing, The Grand Budapest Hotel, was a flat-out masterwork and possibly the best film of his career. And with that, he follows it up with a return to a format he last worked in with The Fantastic Mr. Fox, stop-motion animation.
It's amazing how even in just the first few moments of initial dialogue, you know exactly how a Wes Anderson movie is supposed to sound. There's a specific, kind-of deadpan cadence that Edward Norton knows all too well when he's working in this mode. It's like putting on a really comfy sweater, or something.
Isle of Dogs hits theaters on March 23 of next year. Here's the trailer:
