Best Covers of the Week, Vol. 59

Robocop #8
by Goni Montes

Let's get this one out of the way because it's such a gimme–absolutely gorgeous design and colors!

  Saga #25
by Fiona Staples

I love how fantasy-novel this looks. It's exciting and packed with both characters and character.

 Detective Comics #39
by Yuko Shimizu

Really beautiful level of black and white detail on this one. This cover is a really nice stand-alone art piece, and I'd love to see more like this!

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes #3
by Christopher Mitten

I really like the rough, almost impressionistic look to this one. The cartooning is quite nice as well, but it's the scratches and splotches that make the animal nature really stand out.

 X-O Manowar #33
by Marguerite Sauvage

I love the romance look of this cover. There's something tender but powerful going on, and the shading and coloring is impressive, too.

 Detective Comics #39
by Francis Manapul

I had to include the regular cover, as awesome as the Shimizu variant is. I love the consistency in Manapul's Detective covers, and this is maybe my favorite. It's intense and terrifying!

 Superman #38
by Kevin Nowlan

I'm a huge fan of the old Superman's Girlfriend Lois Lane comics, and this captures the weirdness and humor of those classic covers in a way I can't resist!

That's it for this week. What did I miss? Let me know on Twitter or Facebook!
