'Fantastic Four' Official Synopsis Reveals Team's New Origin

The Fantastic Four reboot has been shrouded in mystery, and the few tidbits we hear haven't been the most promising. But now a new synopsis for the film has appeared on Rotten Tomatoes, which Fox has confirmed is the official version.

THE FANTASTIC FOUR, a contemporary re-imagining of Marvel's original and longest-running superhero team, centers on four young outsiders who teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their physical form in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their daunting new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy. (C) Fox

From the outset, it looks like they'll be using the origin story from Ultimate Fantastic Four, written by Brian Michael Bendis and Mark Millar. Sadly, that series is probably the nadir of the Ultimate-verse (which has had its fair share of low points).

The Fantastic Four, directed by Josh Trank, stars Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara, Jamie Bell, Miles Teller and Toby Kebbell and opens August 7, 2015. I'm sure we'll get a trailer someday soon.
