The upcoming Christmas Special for Doctor Who now has a name and its: The Last Christmas.
I'm not sure how much we're supposed to read into that name, whether it's meant to be the final episode of Jenna Coleman's tenure on the show or if its meant to be more literal (it is Doctor Who after all).
Regardless, while I'm never quite in love with the show's Christmas Specials, I enjoy the fact that Steven Moffat specifically aims for certain holiday iconography, be it A Christmas Carol, The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe, and The Snowman. The Time of the Doctor took a breather from that pattern though the fairytale/victorian Christmas elements were still apparent. But this time around? Just based on the trailer? It almost looks like a Doctor Who version of John Carpenter's The Thing, but with Nick Frost as Santa Claus. Fun!
