Lots of casting news for you today! Variety is reporting that Oscar Isaac has been cast as En Sabbah Nur himself in the next film in the X-men franchise!
First appearing in X-Factor #5, Apocalypse is the oldest mutant in the Marvel universe and has become second to only Magneto in terms of a primary antagonist for the X-men. X-men Apocalypse, the upcoming film, will be loosely based on Age of Apocalypse, a 90's crossover story which is probably the most famous story involving the villain. The character is beloved by fans and was even teased in a post-credits stinger with X-men: Days of Future Past.
Oscar Isaac is most known for his lead role in the Coen brothers' Inside Llewyn Davis, but can be seen next year in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Presumably the role of Apocalypse will largely involve motion capture.
Directed by Bryan SInger, X-men: Apocalypse is set for a May 27, 2016 release date.
