Best Covers of the Week, Vol. 37

Captain America #24
by Carlos Pacheco

Pacheco just keeps getting better and better. I love the texture and shading, and of course the insane amount of ridiculous action going on!

Madame Frankenstein #5
by Joëlle Jones, Nick Filardi

Ah, Fall (and thus Halloween) is coming, and I find myself looking for little bits of horror to start grasping onto. This is a really fun cover with great coloring and contrast, so it fits the bill!

Justice League #33
by Darwyn Cooke

Uh, hello! While the rest of DC this month is 3D covers, this beauty came out of nowhere. Is there anyone who doesn't wish Cooke was drawing (and maybe writing, too) Justice League all the time?

  Squidder #3
by David Stoupakis

And now lets go decidedly darker. I think there's some great contrast and an impressive amount of depth here. Reminds me in its design and color scheme of some of the great Sandman covers.

  Black Widow #10
by Phil Noto

Noto is pretty incredible, but here's a step up as he successfully recreates the signature style of Aja's Hawkeye designs while making it very much his own.

  Lumberjanes #5
by Noelle Stevenson

Really beautiful minimalist design and shading here, and I think the cover has a really nice balance and flow to it.

  Heavy Metal #270
by Pascal Blanche

I haven't picked a cover of this ridiculously long-running series before, but this one caught my eye. I love the bitter neon color palette and just how badass is that headdress?

  Uncanny X-Men #25
by Chris Bachalo

I'm not sure if there are some real photos used in this or not, but the effect is very eye-catching. Nice design too, although I think the title is supposed to be moved to the left just a bit...

That's it for this week. What did I miss? Let me know on Twitter or Facebook!
