Spin the wheel! Welcome to this week's edition of best comic covers of the week!
The X-Files Season 10 #10
by Francesco Francavilla
Let's get our obligatory Francavilla cover out of the way this week, shall we? I like the artists that have been on interiors on this book, but can you imagine what it would look like with Francavilla inside?
Astro City #10
by Alex Ross
Ross's newer stuff, with it's neon coloring is sometimes hard to decipher. This one is designed well, with a nice sense of balance and levitation, and I love the cracks of color falling down like feathers.
Stray Bullets #41 // Stray Bullets: Killers #1
by David Lapham
Whoo! One of my favorite series is back, thanks to Image! I love that Lapham is sticking with the half cover on both series; I think it forces him to make more interesting images because he has less room to do it. Classic crime cover on the left, and the return of the infamous Spanish Scott on the right!
Royals: Masters of War #2
by Simon Coleby
I love the contrast between the brightly colored painting on the plan and the starker reality outside, even with the flying man above. Nicely colored, too.
Federal Bureau of Physics #8
by Nathan Fox
Great eye-catching coloring, and some interesting stuff going on here with papers flying out of bullet hole vorteces.
The Mercenary Sea #1 (2nd Printing)
by Mathew Reynolds
The first printing was wonderful too–awesome retro coloring, great layering and levels that really set the scene and give a strong sense of danger and adventure.
