Review: LEGIT. Episode 2: Dreams

Allow me to be very up front about the new FX comedy, LEGIT. It is crass, obnoxious and crude. I loved every second of it.

FX is the kind of network every comedian with an idea dreams of. They let them do basically whatever they want. Like Louis CK before him, Jim Jeffries new sitcom LEGIT has basically everything that you'd want in a sitcom. Well, everything that I would want.

Sure the humor is a bit crude, and the subject matter may be a bit off kilter (In the first episode Jim takes his friend and friends brother to Nevada so one of them can lose their virginity. The caveat, is that he is paralyzed from the neck down.) But, unlike LOUIE in my opinion, which reaches for a more realistic view of the world, LEGIT has heart. LOTS of heart.

That is the redeeming quality in this show. It makes up for all the crap on the floor, all of the comments about leaving mentally handicapped folks behind (watch it, in context it makes more sense) and taking your friends pants off for him only to get an erect penis in your mouth.

In the second episode of the season, Jim has to deal with breaking his friend out of a home, and the consequences there of. This is the kind of show that you hope comes on the air and says all the things that you can't but still offers you something hopeful in the end.

What do I give it? Why a big freakin' A.
